The Kverneland Group is introducing to the market the Kultistrip, a machine designed for strip-till soil management known to prevent erosion of the soil and ensure high yields while reducing production costs. The Kultistrip, arriving in Italy following on the international debut at Agritechnica in Hanover last year, stands out for the machine's ability to ensure well defined loosened furrows left free of residues in just one pass. The Norwegian manufacturer reported that this feature favors high plant germination ratios to boost the productivity of the soil seeded. The construction of the new Kverneland Kultistrip is based on a robust, resistant frame on which the single strip-till rows are mounted for working row widths from 45 to 75 cm. The individual rows are connected by a spring-loaded parallelogram system for following the contour of the terrain. For the tools, Kverneland selected a large diameter disc at 520 mm capable of opening the soil and breaking up long-standing residues followed by trash wheels to remove great quantities of residues out of the cultivation line to create a perfectly cleaned seedbed. Once the residues are eliminated, the soil can be loosened down to the depth of 30 cm without disturbance of the soil surrounding the furrow. A tube for the distribution of fertilizer is mounted on the back of the tine. According to the condition of the terrain, the machine can operate at speeds of 10 to 12 km/h. The operator has the option of working with straight, semi-curved or curved tines, again depending on ground conditions and speed of operation. The Kultistrip is also equipped with an independent depth regulator allowing a band of fertilizer to be spread directly under the plant roots to optimize uptake of the nutrients. Initially, Kverneland said, the Kultistrip is being marketed with a Non Stop System for the rigid and telescopic frame versions and that a folding frame version will be introduced later in the year.
