Creating a range of horizontal self-propelled cutter-mixers with high efficiency and considerably reduced operating costs, i.e. in line with the production needs of small and medium-sized farms; this is the objective that the technicians of the Storti company from Verona have set for themselves with the design of the new Pointer Evo range, available with 12, 16 and 19 mᶟ capacities, and powered by 4-cylinder FPT Tier IV Final 170 Hp engines, characterized by a maximum speed of 15 km/h for the LS version and 25 km/h for the AS version. One of the major strengths of the Pointer Evo series is the MechDrive transmission to the augers, updated with a dry clutch, and thus able to transmit the rotary motion of the motor directly to the auger gear box without any energy dispersion. This construction solution is very advantageous because it helps maintain very low levels of fuel consumption (for the 16 m³ model, they range from 9.5 to 10.5 litres per hour) and hydraulic oil usage (85 litres per 2,000 hours), thus ensuring a quick return on investment. The cab design is also updated, redesigned to give the operator greater visibility of the work area, and fitted with standard independent hydropneumatic suspension, to absorb the stresses of the milling arm, and consequently significantly improve on-board comfort. On its milling system, Storti has confirmed one of its winning technologies, the FPS Fiber-Pick Up System, conceived to work in both directions of rotation, and now made even more efficient by the introduction of a Bosch Rexroth variable displacement pump that provides more torque. In short, the new Storti mixer wagons promise to make a difference, especially for those companies where competitiveness is measured especially on the cost-containment side.
