The German Marcus Baldinger, manager of Poettinger, was confirmed as chairman of the Cema Technical Board, the association that brings together European manufacturers of agricultural machinery. The nomination of Baldinger, now in his second term, was voted by the Technical Board on the 6th of November, on the occasion of EIMA International. “The introduction of a European homologation for implements - Baldinger said after his re-election - has also influenced the representation of manufacturers of this type of machinery.  A representation that today, within our association, appears to be wider and stronger». According to the CEMA Technical Board chairman, the top priority field of action is farming 4.0. In a scenario where the vast majority of agronomic data is collected by agricultural machinery, dataflow communication machine2machine and cloud2cloud require a much broader expertise base and network. Therefore - Baldinger added - the ever closer interaction between the agricultural world and the digital universe confronts us with new challenges. This is why I would like to launch an appeal so that operators in the sector can join forces and commit themselves to achieve these goals together”. Marcus Baldinger will be joined by Matteo Guerra, of the Argo group, elected vice-chairman of the Technical Board. “Innovation in the agricultural machinery area, especially in the tractors area, has never raced as today, and to keep pace - explained Guerra - it is necessary that legislation and standardization evolve just as quickly, taking into account both technical progress and the needs of the sector.  In this process, CEMA is called upon to play an essential role, by interfacing our industrial sector with the EU authorities. European legislation cannot fail to take into account the needs of manufacturers and the agricultural machinery market ». It is, therefore, necessary to find the right balance between the specific needs of the sector, the European legislation, the Member States legislation, and the definition of standards on safety and environmental protection.
