A recent report issued by the Rete Rurale Nazionale, the italian branch of the European programme fostering development policies in the rural areas, takes the stock of expenditure related to the Rural Development Programmes. According to the report, more than 672 million euros (comprehensive of the public expenditure and of the EAFRD share which amounts to 333 millions) were allocated in the second quarter of the year. With 847 millions yet to deploy as of the end of June, progress of expenditure reached 62,47%. The Autonomous Province of Bolzano and Veneto are among the “best performers”, whilst 9 Regions – Valle d’Aosta, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Molise, Calabria, Piemonte, Sardegna, Trento – hit the 2021 expenditure target in June.
From the beginning of the EAFRD programme (2014-2020) to date, italian Regions spent a totale of more than 13 billion euros, comprehensive of the EAFRD share amounting to 6,4 billion euros.
