The publication in the Italian Gazzetta Ufficiale of the decree issued by the Minister of Agriculture, Stefano Patuanelli, allows in Italy the cultivation of set aside land. Thanks to this measure, more than 200 thousand hectares of land will be included in the agricultural sector for 2022. The exploitation of fallow land has been authorized not only to address the production deficit caused by the war in Ukraine but also to counteract the strong increases price of agricultural commodities that have occurred since the beginning of hostilities in Eastern European. Due to the sharp increase in the prices of fertilizers and energy, agriculture has been severely affected by the geopolitical crisis in Ukrauine.
