Farm machinery theft, 300 million in business

In 2017 in Italy there were 9.114 thefts of tractors and of different farm machinery. The data are provided by Unacma, which reminds that in the last five years there has been a reduction in "jobs". But the business of tractor theft is still profitable, and Coldiretti estimates the damage caused to farms by agro-criminals to be around 300 million

Greenhouse gas emissions and agriculture: the "AgriCare" project

Agriculture plays an important role in contrasting the dangerous effects of greenhouse gas emissions. It has been calculated that greenhouse gas accounts for, directly and indirectly, about one third of the total CO2 emissions. The LIFE AgriCare projects stands out among the research activities on the best agronomic techniques, which covers all phases of tillage and also involves equipment manufacturers. European Union regulation on narrow track tractors: efficient and sustainable

The European Parliament has approved emission standards for engines used in new non-road mobile machinery, NRMM. The norm sets severe parameters for safeguarding the environment but acknowledges the specifics of vineyard and fruit orchard tractors to allow them to move from the current Stage IIIB to Stage V in 2021 to give manufacturers more time to design solutions for the installation of after-treatment systems compatible with the size of the engine without altering operational requirements of these tractors

Water resources, a territorial challenge

A meeting on the issue of water and structuring technologies for the correct management of the resource was held in Foggia in the setting of the International Agricultural and Zootechny Trade Fair. Attending the session were representatives from the Capitanata Reclamation Consortium, the University of Foggia, the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute in Bari and FederUnacoma, the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation. The participants agreed on the need for tightening the collaboration of activities on the territory. The Puglia Region Commissioner for Agri-Food Resources, Leonardo Di Gioia, discussed ways and means for strengthening structures and policy for water resources
