X6 VT-Drive, a full tank of technology

The 4-cylinder McCormick, already winner of the Tractor of the Year 2017 at Agritechnica, also won the innovation award promoted by Fieragricola and Informatore Agrario. SCR for the post-treatment of emissions, three-stage continuously variable VT-Drive transmission, electro-hydraulic PTO; these are the strengths of this tractor

In the McCormick exhibition spaces, the protagonist is the X6 VT-Drive model, winner of the “Tractor of the Year 2018” award for the Best Utility category, awarded last November at Agritechnica. In Verona, the X6 VT-Drive gave an encore, winning the “Silver Leaf of Innovation”, an award established by Verona Fiere and Informatore Agrario. In this case as well, it was assigned by an authoritative committee of experts. Powered by a sturdy 4500 cm³ Tier 4 Final 4-cylinder Betapower Fuel Efficiency, the McCormick X6.4 is available with capacities ranging from 120 to 140 horsepower and with SCR system for the post-treatment of emissions. For the transmission you can choose between the three-stage continuously variable VT-Drive and the Powershift with three gears under load (48+16 with Creeper) both by Argo Tractors. The range is equipped with 2 or 4-speed electro-hydraulic PTO with automatic coupling, rear lift with a capacity of 5,400 kilos and an optional 110 l/min closed centre hydraulic circuit. The comfort in field operations, as well as in transport, is ensured by the front axle with independent arm suspension (optional) and the mechanical suspension of the cab, built to the highest standards in terms of ergonomics, quietness and visibility. With a weight of 5,200 kilos and a maximum permissible mass of 8,500 kilos, McCormick X6.4 is characterized by a pitch of 2.54 metres and is equipped with 34” and 38” rear tyres, making it a working tool ideal for heavy duty use, also in combination with front lifter or front loader. The X7 range, on the other hand, is offered with a 4-cylinder (X7.4) and 6-cylinder (X7.6) Tier 4 Final engines. The McCormick X7.4 Tier 4 Final is available with powers of 150 Hp, 165 Hp and 176 Hp in line with European Mother Regulation. The compact engine enables limiting the pitch size (just 2.600 mm), which benefits manoeuvre agility, while the transmission is offered in both the continuous VT-Drive and the P6-Drive version with 6 Powershift gears over 5 robotic ranges (with the creeper you get up to 54 gears under load). The gearbox, on the other hand, is electronically controlled via the multifunction armrest with the option of automatic APS (Auto Powershift) transmission as standard on all ranges. The rear power take-off with electro-hydraulic clutch offers four speeds - 540/540E/1000/1000E - and stands out for its electronic clutch management, designed to optimize comfort (the tractor engages gradually) and maintenance. One of the other strengths of this machine is the new Semi-Active Cab Suspension system with electronic control unit, which enables an immediate response of the shock absorbers on uneven ground. The X7.6 model is equipped with 6-cylinder Betapower Fuel Efficiency Tier 4 Final engines and has a unified pitch of 2.820mm. Five models are on the market (X7.650, X7.660, X7.670, X7.680 and X7.690) with a power range from 150 to 225 Hp. The flagship of the X7.6 is the Engine Brake Pedal, which exploits the electronic valve positioned on the exhaust side of the turbocharger, thus improving the braking performance. On this range, the transmission is available both in the VT-Drive version (up to 192 Hp) and in the P6-Drive version (up to 225 Hp). Particularly noteworthy is the Smart Autopowershift function, designed to automatically configure the most suitable gear for the preset engine speed. Finally, the Stop&Action system integrates the de-clutch function in the brake pedal, giving the P6-Drive a fluidity of drive comparable to that of a continuously variable gearbox.
