Kohler Engines, which manufactures a wide range of diesel, gasoline and gas engines up to 140 Hp used in construction, earthmoving, agriculture, generators and landscaping, recently approved for Europe the use of HVO for all diesel engines (watercooled or air-cooled) marketed by the US-based Kohler Co. The adoption of HVO, either pure or blended with conventional low-sulphur fuel and which can be used in all diesel applications, will lead to a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions and can be introduced without any modifications to the engines. There are no changes to service intervals or warranty conditions in Europe. The Kohler approval, which confirms the brand's commitment to an increasingly sustainable future, was issued after a series of theoretical and practical tests carried out by the group's engineers, who nonetheless emphasise the need for the use of exhaust gas after-treatment systems, if fitted, even with HVO. For Luigi Arnone, Engineering Director, Diesel Engines at Kohler, "eFuels are particularly interesting in terms of their environmental impact, as well as achieving performance comparable to that achieved using conventional diesel fuels. Synthetic diesel, a product that is therefore entirely recycled and can be processed, stored and distributed like any other fuel, is becoming increasingly popular and is already widely available in Northern Europe. L’adozione dell’HVO, puro o miscelato con il combustibile convenzionale con basso contenuto di zolfo e che può essere utilizzato in tutte le applicazioni diesel, porterà a una riduzione del 90% delle emissioni di CO2 e potrà essere introdotto senza nessuna modifica ai motori. Non ci sono variazioni negli intervalli di manutenzione e nelle condizioni di garanzia previste in Europa. L’approvazione Kohler, che conferma l’impegno del brand per un futuro sempre più sostenibile, è stata rilasciata dopo una serie di test teorici e pratici effettuati dagli ingegneri del gruppo che sottolineano comunque la necessità dell’utilizzo dei sistemi di post-trattamento dei gas di scarico, se previsti, anche con HVO.
