Equipaggiati con motore JD14 da 13,6 litri, in grado di erogare fino a 634 Cv attraverso il sistema Peak Power Intelligent Power Management (PP IPM) che fornisce 40 Cv supplementari durante le lavorazioni più impegnative, i nuovi modelli si caratterizzano per una potenza nominale pari a 440, 490 e 540 cavalli rispettivamente. La versione 8R viene proposta con una configurazione a ruota singola o gemellata (la gemellatura anteriore arriva ad un massimo di 710 mm) e – opzionalmente – con il John Deere Central Tyre Inflation System (CTIS) a linea singola, che regola in modo automatico la pressione degli pneumatici (i posteriori arrivano fino ad un massimo di 230 cm, gli anteriori fino a 185 cm) a qualsiasi velocità e temperatura. Gli 8RX invece adottano quattro cingoli con strutture riprogettate e cingoli Soucy CustomFit P Series. Questa soluzione – spiega il costruttore con una nota tecnica – allevia lo stress sui cingoli e ne prolunga la durata operativa. A seconda della configurazione, la cingolatura può arrivare anche ad un’area di contatto di 4,87 metri quadrati con pressione al suolo minima di 0,4 kg/cm², contribuendo in questo modo a ridurre la compattazione del terreno. Il nuovo assale anteriore Heavy-Duty Independent Link Suspension (HD ILS) rende più agevoli le svolte a fine campo con un raggio di sterzata di circa 7 metri. Il sistema, inoltre, può essere regolato manualmente o automaticamente in funzione del carico.
