Epocali i suoi litigi con il computer con il quale avrebbe voluto stabilire un contatto umano come faceva con tutto quello che lo circondava. Nato nel 1937 nel Nebraska (USA) ha avuto un’adolescenza e una giovinezza avventurose che lo hanno visto in giro per il mondo dai Caraibi all’Europa impegnato nei più diversi lavori: da portantino in ospedale a bartender sullo yacht di John Wayne. Arrivato a Roma negli anni '60 ha insegnato inglese nelle scuole per approdare negli anni 70 – dopo una parentesi di nuovo negli Usa e in Canada – al Desk inglese dell'Ansa dove per decenni ha raccontato al mondo di lingua anglosassone i fatti del nostro paese amandolo profondamente, ma contestando sempre quello che riteneva che non andasse. Un uomo simpatico, dotato di grande ironia, dalla schiena dritta e con uno spiccato senso civico che non smetteva mai di esercitare segnalando costantemente agli enti preposti tutto quello che non era corretto o non funzionava. Nella prossima primavera la sua famiglia, rispettando la sua volontà, lo riporterà nelle acque del Pacifico sulle coste dell'Oregon dove da giovane aveva vissuto intensamente e da dove era partito per costruire la vita che voleva. Born in 1937 in Nebraska (USA), he had an adventurous adolescence and youth that took him wandering the world, from the Caribbean to Europe, working in the most diverse jobs: from hospital porter to bartender on John Wayne's yacht. He arrived in Rome in the 1960s and taught English in schools before landing in the 1970s - after a period back in the USA and Canada - at the English Desk of Ansa where for decades he told the Anglo-Saxon-speaking world the facts of our country, loving it deeply, but always contesting what he thought was wrong. A likeable man, gifted with great irony, with a straight back and a strong sense of civic duty that he never stopped exercising by constantly pointing out to the relevant bodies anything that was not right or did not work. This coming Spring, his family will honour his wishes, taking him back to the waters of the Pacific on the Oregon coast where he lived intensely as a young man and from where he left to build the life he wanted.
