Nella cornice della manifestazione CNH Industrial Tech Days, una due giorni organizzata dalla multinazionale italiana proprio con l’obiettivo di lanciare i due prototipi, hanno mosso i primi passi il T7 Methane Power a gas naturale liquefatto (LNG) e il T4 Electric Power. Il T7 Methane Power – si legge in una nota dell’azienda – è stato progettato per soddisfare la crescente domanda di mercato relativa a macchine ad alta potenza ma con emissioni e costi di esercizio ridotti (la potenza di 270 Cv e la coppia sono le stesse del modello diesel). Il sistema di alimentazione a gas naturale liquefatto – spiega sempre il costruttore – è molto vantaggioso non soltanto sotto il profilo dell’autonomia operativa della macchina, di gran lunga superiore a quella degli altri modelli a metano, ma anche perché questo tipo di carburante offre una capacità di stoccaggio quattro volte superiore a quella del gas compresso. Il prototipo di casa CNH è infatti equipaggiato con un sistema di propulsione a temperatura controllata, che comprende un serbatoio criogenico di acciaio inossidabile sagomato, che si abbina alla sua controparte diesel e che permette di immagazzinare efficacemente il metano liquefatto all'interno del trattore. Uno spazio vuoto autoportante isola il carburante all'interno del serbatoio e ne riduce lo spessore, mentre la tecnologia di controllo attivo della temperatura dei serbatoi garantisce il regolare funzionamento del motore. At the CNH Industrial Tech Days event, a two-day event organised by the Italian multinational precisely with the aim of launching the two prototypes, the T7 Methane Power powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the T4 Electric Power took their first steps. The T7 Methane Power - reads a company note - has been designed to meet the growing market demand for high-powered machines with reduced emissions and running costs (270 horsepower and torque are the same as the diesel model). The liquefied natural gas fuel system - explains the manufacturer - is very advantageous not only in terms of the machine's operating range, which is far greater than that of other LNG models, but also because this type of fuel offers four times the storage capacity of compressed gas. The CNH prototype is equipped with a temperature-controlled propulsion system, which includes a cryogenic, moulded stainless steel tank that matches its diesel counterpart and allows the liquefied methane to be effectively stored inside the tractor.
