la Francia sono risultate: Angers,Nantes e Limoges. La pri-
ma classificata si è distinta per il forte investimento rivolto
alla creazioneemanutenzionedelleareea verde,pari al 5%
dell’interobudget comunale (quattro voltesuperioreallame-
dianazionale); areeche rappresentano il 20%dell’intero ter-
ritorio comunale. Angers primeggia anche per altri indicato-

di verdeper abitante. Nantespossiedeben
100ettari di parchi egiardini pari al 16%dellasuperficiedel-
la città e investe nel verde ben 98 euro per abitante all’an-
no. Poco meno della terza classificata (100 euro per abi-
tante), per la quale la superficie a verde raggiunge il 10%
dell’interamunicipalità.
In Italia, l’IstitutoNazionaledi Statistica,ha resonotoche,nel
2013, il verdepubblico rappresentava il 2,7%del territoriodei
comuni capoluogodi provincia.Si trattadi oltre577milioni di

destinati al verde. Inoltre,quasi il 16%dellasuperficiedi
questi comuni è inclusa tra le “aree naturali protette”. Com-

Maintenance
In Italy, diversifiedmaintenance is gaining ground inmany
municipalities following thepositive results achievedabroad
andalsodue to shrinking financial resourcesassociatedwith
the economic crisis.Thismaintenance involves the adoption
ofmethods applied in relation to the type of green area, the
intensity of itsuseand location.Three levelsofmaintenance
canbenamed for the same city: intensive,normal and semi-
natural. The first is deployed for areas of great ornamental
value, including the road roundabouts giving access to the
city. The floral attraction of these areas is maintained ac-
cording to precise annual plantings, their lawns aremowed
