Missione compiuta per il trattore
MasseyFerguson5610,che loscor-
so9dicembre - con lamissioneAn-
tartica2 - ha raggiunto il Polo Sud.
Partita nel mese di novembre dalla
stazione di Novolazarevskaya – nel
versanteorientaledell’Antartide– la
spedizione ha raggiunto il punto
estremodell’emisferoaustraledopo
17 giorni e2.500 chilometri, favori-
ta dalla luce del giorno che in que-
stoperiododell’anno illuminaper in-
tero le 24 ore. A guidare la spedi-
zione,che faecoall’impresastorica
dell’esploratoreEdmundHillary,che
nelgennaiodel1958 raggiunse ilPo-
lo Sud proprio con una spedizione
condotta su tre trattori Massey Fer-
guson,èstataManonOssevoort,già
conosciutaper impreseanaloghe.La
missione, realizzatagrazieal soste-
gno,oltrechedellacelebre industria
americana,anchedi unpool di part-
ner del settoremeccanico-agricolo,
è statamolto impegnativa. I driver

South Pole last December 9th. Fol-
lowingdeparture inNovember from
theNovolazarevskayastationon the
northeast coastof thecontinentand
2,500kilometersand17days later
– favoredby light throughout the24
hours of theday at the timeof year
– the goal of the expedition was
achieved.Repeating thehistoricen-
terprise of explorer EdmundHillary
who reached theSouthPole in Jan-
uary1958onanexpeditioncarried
out on threeMassey Ferguson trac-
tors, thisonewas ledbyManonOs-
sevoort, known for similar feats in
the past. Thanks to the support of
the celebratedAmericanmanufac-
turer and a team of expert me-
chanics thecompellingmissionwas
broughtoffbydrivers taking turnsat
thewheel for uninterruptedstretch-
es of 23 hours. The tractor was
stopped only briefly for ordinary
maintenance and change of driver.
The engine of the5610 ran virtual-
lynonstop from thedepartureof the
expeditiononNovember22nd to the
arrival at theSouthPole.
