CAP 2014–2022: Italy used 99.43% of allocated funds

17.02.2026

The final phase of the 2014–2022 CAP programming period closed on 31 December 2025, and the results for Italy have been more than positive, as the country achieved a fund absorption rate equal to 99.43% of its total EU allocation. Data released by Pianeta PSR (the information body of the National Rural Network programme), contained in the technical report on expenditure as of 31 December 2025, show that unused funds amounted to just €81.5 million out of €14.3 billion. The most virtuous regions were Lazio (99.99%), Tuscany (99.97%), followed by Abruzzo (99.95%). “The result,” stated Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, “was achieved thanks to a specific legislative initiative adopted with the 2025 Budget Law, which allowed the Regions to increase the share of EU co-financing for programmes under the 2014–2022 period.”
