Thanks to an investment of over €12 million, on 20 April the University of Bologna completed the modernisation of the Experimental Teaching Centre in Cadriano (Bologna). The main works involved the test track for agricultural tractor safety, specifically designed for new-generation vehicles and autonomous vehicles; the construction of a semi-anechoic chamber (an acoustically or electromagnetically isolated environment, designed to eliminate sound reflections from walls and ceilings) for testing electromagnetic interference on agricultural components and machinery; and the creation of two advanced scientific laboratories for plant research and the study of fruit and vegetable storage conditions. “The spaces inaugurated today,” said Rector Giovanni Molari, “are the most visible and tangible sign of the efforts made by the University of Bologna towards more sustainable, resilient and efficient agricultural systems. These are spaces designed for co-creation and built to be open: to businesses, farmers, institutions, and anyone wishing to contribute to the sector’s sustainable transition.” The event was attended by Rector Giovanni Molari, the Minister for Universities and Research Anna Maria Bernini, the Minister for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida, and the Director of the Department of Agri-Food Sciences and Technologies at the University of Bologna, Giovanni Dinelli.
