Approved the strategic plans of the CAP

On 14 December, the European Commission has approved the 28 strategic plans (one for each country, two for Belgium) of the new Common Agricultural Policy - period 2023/2027 - which will enter into force on 1 January 2023. With the new CAP the European Commission intends to strengthen the contribution of agriculture to the achievement of the EU's environmental and climate objectives, to support small farms in an increasingly targeted way and finally to allow member states greater flexibility in adapting measures to local conditions. Co-financing and complementary national funding will bring the total public budget dedicated to farmers and rural communities to €307 billion.
