With the "The Challenge Begin" event, the selections for the 25th edition of the Tractor of the Year have begun. For two days, in the Trident Hotel in Mumbai, India, the manufacturers presented their candidacies to the international jury, made up of 25 European journalists which will be called first to choose the models in the competition, then to proclaim the winners. Nine brands will compete for the title of Tractor of the Year 2004: Claas, Fendt, Massey Ferguson, Valtra, McCormick, Landini, Antonio Carraro, Reform, Solis and Farmtrac for a total of twelve tractors. The competition is divided, as usual, into three categories. The most coveted one of “Tractor of the Year”, for open field tractors; the “Best Utility” category, for multipurpose and utility tractors with 4-cylinder engines with power ranging from 70 to 150 horsepower and a maximum empty weight of 10,500 kilograms; the “Best of Specialized”, for orchard, vineyard, mountain and hill tractors. To these is added the Sustainable Toty, which rewards the most advanced machine in terms of sustainability. The announcement of the winners will take place during the Agritechnica exhibition which will take place in Hanover from 12 to 18 November.
