New Holland 50 Years of Twin Rotor Technology

16.07.2025

New Holland is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the launch of its Twin Rotor system. The innovative threshing and grain-separation technology devised by the Italian-American manufacturer first appeared in 1975 on the TR 70 combine harvester, which featured a 145-hp engine and a 5,500-litre grain tank. The breakthrough lay in splitting the incoming crop into two separate streams handled by a pair of counter-rotating longitudinal rotors that worked with matching longitudinal concaves made up of threshing sections followed by separation sections. According to the company, the centrifugal force generated by the rotors’ high speed expelled the grain through the grates, minimising damage and losses. The intuition proved so sound that, fifty years on, an evolved version of Twin Rotor technology now equips every combine in the New Holland line-up.
