Think Tank FederUnacoma, made in Italy an added value for agromechanics

03.04.2023

Quality and tradition of Italian agricultural machinery are essential for success on foreign markets, but a further qualitative leap is needed. The machines made by Italian companies must be perceived as classic "Made in Italy" products on a par with high-end automotive, fashion and agri-food. These were the conclusions of FederUnacoma’s Think Tank which took place on 30 March at the castle of Torgiano (Perugia) and which saw the participation of the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, president of ICE Agency Matteo Zoppas, and Emanunele Di Faustino from Nomisma economic research and consulting Institute. Last year, Italian agricultural machines exports grew by 14.6%, however –explained the speakers – companies must face increasingly fierce competition from Asian manufacturers. In his speech, the president of FederUnacoma, Alessandro Malavolti, focused on the dynamics of the Italian market. The demand for agricultural machinery - said Malavolti - continues to be sustained - however a growing part is satisfied through the purchase of second-hand vehicles (over 51,000 in 2022, more than double the new ones). The second-hand boom is a negative phenomenon - added Malavolti – because it makes it more difficult to renew the Italian fleet with last generation machines. In this scenario, Minister Adolfo Urso reiterated once again the need to support and encourage the technological innovation of Italian industries. At the end of the day, the general director of FederUnacoma, Simona Rapastella, took stock of the insights of the three thematic tables, presenting the conclusions of each working group.
