brightened for the manufacturing industries by the positive trend
of exports which, according to National Statistics Institute, ISTAT,
foreign trade data, climbed by 11.5% in value in the first half of
the year for tractor exports, at
826 million, and by 9.4% for oth-
er machinery and equipment, at
1.5 billion. Confirmation of the
greater liveliness on foreign markets and signals of a possible re-
covery at home will come with the arrival of EIMA International,
the great exhibition of agricultural mechanization set for Novem-
ber 7 to 11 in the Bologna trade fair center. The event will bring
together the full galaxy of agricultural mechanization with 1,750
industries exhibiting and expectations of some 180,000 busi-
nesspeople from all parts of the world in attendance.
“The EIMA exposition is directly sponsored and organized by
the manufacturers association and will make it possible to mon-
itor market trends at the global level,” said Goldoni. “We’ll have
dealings with more than 60 official delegations of foreign busi-
nesspeople, we’ll have sessions for study of the mechanization
trends in the various regions of the world and we’ll work very
hard to raise the awareness of public opinion and Italian politi-
cians of the need to use all possible incentive instruments and
apply new ones,” he affirmed.

Registration data for the January-September period
confirm the negative trend reported for the first
half of the year whereas exports of machinery and
equipment manufactured by the Italian industry are
showing growth. The president of the
manufacturers association, Massimo Goldoni,
laments the scant use of European Union funds and
announces a campaign for heightening awareness.
The EIMA International exposition will become the
occasion for global market monitoring
