ono oltre 34 milioni le trattrici attualmente operanti nel
mondo, delle quali il 39% concentrate in Asia, il 36% in
Europa, il 22% nelle Americhe e solo percentuali minime
collocate in Oceania e Africa, quest’ultima in grave deficit di
meccanizzazione e con una percentuale pari ad appena l’1,5%
del totale mondiale. Questo parco macchine – stimato da Fe-
derUnacoma sulla base dei dati FAO – è destinato ad aumen-
tare in modo considerevole negli anni prossimi, perché la do-
mandadi tecnologieper coltivare la terraè in forte crescita. Ne-
gli ultimi anni le vendite di trattrici si sono attestate intorno ai
duemilioni di unità annue, e il trend di medio e lungo periodo
dovrebbe segnare incrementi ulteriori, portando un accresci-
mento rapido del parcomacchine complessivo. I dati sul mer-

coming years because the demand for technologies for cultivating the land
is in strong growth. In recent years tractor sales have settledat around two
millionunitsper year and themediumand long term trendshouldshow fur-
ther increases leading to a speedy expansion of the overall machinery in-
ventory.According tomarketdata–presentedby theworldwideassociation
of agriculturalmachinerymanufacturers,Agrievolution, at theEIMA Interna-
tional exposition of agricultural machinery inBologna – increasingly impor-
tant roleswill beplayedby themarkets in India, expected to confirm tractor
sales of 620,000 units throughout national territory at the end of the year,
and China, which should close the year in second placewith registrations
comingclose to500,000units.Registrations inWesternEuropecouldcome
to160,000unitsand slightlymore than100,000 in theUnitedStates.Also
underscoredare theemergingmarkets,suchas those inTurkey,with57,000
unitssold in the yearand theexpectationof24,500 for theRussianFedera-
tion. Thisgreat number of sales isan important gauge for locatingdemand
but does not correspond to absolute financial value in that tractors sold in
traditionalmarketsaremorehighpoweredmodelsandmore technological-
ly advanced than those sold in emerging countries and thusweigh inmore
