eading into the countdown for the opening of EIMA In-
ternational 2012 for the launch of the new specialists
and other products John Deere intends to market in all
the twenty-seven countries of the European Union. The six trac-
tors in the 6M series mount 4-cylinder 4.5 liter PowerTech PVX
power plants ranging from 115 to 170 hp on the 6115M,
6125M, 6130M and 6140M models and the tough 6.8 liter en-
gine on the 6150M and the 6170M. The advanced technolog-
ical features built in – exhaust gas recycling (ERG), a variable
geometry turbo compressor (VGT), diesel oxidation exhaust cat-
alyst (DOC) and a diesel particulate filter (DPF) – these engines
ensure compliance with the most recent emission norms as
well as significantly lower fuel consumption. The transmissions
are the John Deere workhorses, the PowrQuad and the Auto-
Quad Plus designed for smooth and uniform gear changes, as-
sisted by a clutch disengagement button command, and are
equipped with the new Ecoshift providing the automatic re-
duction of engine rpm when the tractor has reach high forward
speed. A John Deere technical communiqué said, “For the dri-
ver, this function is value added because it not only improves
fuel consumption efficiency but lowers the noise level in the
cab.” For the improved hydraulic system, the 4-cylinder models
feature an 80 liter/min pressure compensated system, with the
option to fit a 114 liter/min pressure and flow compensated
version, fitted as standard to six-cylinder models. To add even
more value to the versatility and performance of the 6M series,
John Deere is offering such equipment for these specialists as
tires with a diameter of up to two meters, an ITEC system for
the management of headland maneuvers and factory equipped
front lift and the PTO. New features also coming out for the
John Deere 1400 series Large Square Balers made up of six
machines with pick-up widths from 210 to 230 cm and five tine
bars for boosting intake. The chamber size is not standard but
varies from 60 to 300 cm in length and 80 to 120 cm in width
according to the model. The only constant parameter is height
at 90 cm. Crop is fed from the inline rotor to a high capacity
auger with cam clutch protection of drive train. The precom-
pression chamber is fitted with a single feeder fork and regu-
lation of density. For cutting, the company offers as optional a
23 knife pre-cutter, and a selection of 12, 11 or 0 knives, pro-
tection of the tool hydraulics and a removable housing. The
models in the 1400 Large Baler series are also equipped as

onto alla rovescio per il lancio, a Eima International
2012, dei nuovi specializzati firmati John Deere che sa-
ranno commercializzati in tutti i 27 principali mercati
dell’Unione Europea. Si tratta della serie 6M composta da sei
trattrici con potenze comprese tra 115 e 170 cavalli, erogati
dai motori PowerTech PVX a quattro cilindri e 4,5 litri per i mo-
delli 6115M, 6125M, 6130M e 6140M; da un robusto sei ci-
lindri da 6,8 litri per i 6150M e i 6170M. Frutto di avanzate
tecnologie – sistema di ricircolo dei gas di scarico (EGR), tur-
bocompressore a geometria variabile (VGT), filtro di scarico
con catalizzatore di ossidazione diesel (DOC) e con filtro an-
tiparticolato diesel (DPF) – questi propulsori garantiscono il
rispetto dei più recenti standard in materia di emissioni, ol-
tre ad essere particolarmente parsimoniosi nei consumi. Sul-
la trasmissione, la casa statunitense ripropone i suoi “cavalli
da battaglia”: PowrQuad e AutoQuad Plus, progettati per con-
ferire fluidità e omogeneità ai cambi marcia (sono assistiti da
un pulsante di disinnesto della frizione) e implementati dalla
nuova modalità Ecoshift che riduce in modo automatico il re-
gime del motore quando il trattore raggiunge velocità di avan-
zamento elevate. «Per l’operatore questa funzione rappre-
senta un valore aggiunto – si legge in una nota tecnica della
John Deere – poiché non solo migliora notevolmente l’effi-
cienza dei consumi ma diminuisce anche i livelli acustici al-
l’interno della cabina». La soluzione adottata dalla casa ame-
ricana per l’idraulica è stata quella di puntare su un sistema
a centro chiuso e flusso e pressione compensati (la pompa
eroga fino a 114 litri al minuto), che supporta fino a quattro
a distributori meccanici (SCV) posteriori e fino a tre distribu-
tori meccanici centrali indipendenti. Per valorizzare ancora di
più la versatilità della serie 6M e – naturalmente – le pre-
stazioni, John Deere ha previsto la possibilità di equipaggia-
re i sei specializzati con pneumatici dal diametro fino a due
metri, con il sistema Itec per la gestione delle svolte a fine
campo (si possono automatizzare più funzioni contempora-
neamente), con il sollevatore anteriore e la PTO installati di-
rettamente in fabbrica. Novità anche nel segmento delle big
baler con la serie 1400, composta da sei macchine che si
presentano con pickup di larghezze comprese tra 210 e 230
cm e con 5 barre dentate per aumentare la capacità di intro-
duzione del prodotto. Le dimensioni della camera di pressa-
tura non sono standardizzate ma variano a seconda dei mo-
delli e sono comprese tra un massimo di 60 e 300 cm in lun-
ghezza, e tra 80 e 120 cm per la larghezza. L’unico parame-
