Considerable attention at the great Bologna exposition was focused on the opening of
applications for financing the purchase of innovative agricultural machinery from the funds of

45 million managed by INAIL. The step came in a conference held by INAIL, the Italian National
Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work, which also reported on accidents in agriculture
over the past 60 years to underscore work on prevention

muovere investimenti in tecnologie innovative finalizzate non sol-
tanto ad incrementare la sicurezza del lavoro nei campi, dal punto
di vista sia degli infortuni che delle malattie professionali, ma a mi-
gliorare il rendimento e la sostenibilità delle aziende agricole.
D’altro canto, come è stato sottolineato dai relatori del convegno,
in Italia l’agricoltura è seconda per numero di eventi infortunistici
solo all’edilizia e viene prima di industria e servizi. Tuttavia, negli ul-
timi sessant’anni sul fronte della prevenzione sono stati compiuti
passi da gigante, anche grazie alla progettazione di tecnologie mec-
caniche più evolute, che hanno permesso di ridurre considerevol-
mente il numero di infortuni, passati dai circa 256 mila del 1955
