L’operazione è completata con una rastrellatura e con una
innaffiatura, eseguita coi tradizionali innaffiatoi o con irri-
gazione a pioggia. Su grandi superfici si impiegano semi-
natricimeccanicheopneumatiche. Anche inquesto casoè
bene eseguire le due passate incrociate.
Manutenzione del tappeto erboso
L’operazione più frequente da effettuare sul tappeto erbo-
so è il taglio dell’erba. Su superfici ridotte, o su terreni in
pendenza,puòessere impiegato il decespugliatorea filodi

portatodall’operatore. Imodelli conmotoreelettrico,
alimentati via cavo o a batteria, presentano il vantaggio di
essere leggeri e poco rumorosi. Quelli conmotore a scop-
pio hanno potenza superiore e possono operare in condi-
zioni più difficili.
Quando l’operazione di taglio è fatta con rasaerba, la scel-

peto erboso e dalle sue dimensioni. La qualità del tappeto
incide sulla scelta dell’apparato di taglio. Nei tappeti orna-

equipment built on the basis of brush cuttersmake it possi-
ble to hoe down to various depths and well as performme-
chanical weedingandpulverize the soil thanks to the various
blades which can bemounted.
Large areas are preparedwith the deployment of plows, cut-
ters and spadersmounted on tractors.
Seeding small areas canbedoneby handby distributing the
seeds twice,upanddownandbackand forth.Quantitiesare
determinedby the sizeof the seeds. In thegrass family, such
as festuca or ryegrass, the quantity is 25-40 g/m

Lawnmaintenance
Themost frequent operations carried out on lawns is mow-
ing thegrass.Brush cutters fittedwithanylon flail carriedby

Electricmowers powered off a cord or batteries provide the
advantagesof lightweight and lownoise levels. Those runby
internal combustion engines aremore powerful and can be
used inmore demanding condition.
Formaintaining lawnswithamower the ranges of thesema-

quality of mowing and the size of the lawn area. For orna-
mental and quality lawnsmowers with helical blade cutting
mechanisms are preferred; otherwise the choice would be

lawns of less than 1,500m
