In commercio sono disponibili abbacchiatori con alimenta-

tioliveamotore; questi ultimi sono generalmentedi potenza
superiore,maevidenziano tuttoraqualcheproblema inpiù ri-
spetto ai primi. La diffusione di queste attrezzature in Italia
incontraqualchedifficoltà,sostanzialmenteperché il loro im-
piego diventa conveniente solo per aziende olivicole con ol-
tre 3-4000 piante,mentre la nostra realtà è fortemente ca-
ratterizzata da un’elevata frammentazione. Sarebbe quindi
necessario creare impianti dedicati ex-novo per poter sfrut-
tare l’intera potenzialità di questi nuovi macchinari.
I metodi di raccolta
Diverse sono le modalità di raccolta delle olive; la caduta
spontanea è indubbiamente il metodo più antico ed eco-
nomico,ma così facendosi ottengonoolii di bassaqualità,
caratterizzati da qualità organolettiche e nutrizionali piutto-
sto scadenti, correlate ad un’elevata acidità libera. La pet-
tinatura prevede l’impiego di rastrelli oscillanti, che pas-
sando tra le fronde della pianta distaccano e fanno cadere
i frutti nelle reti di raccolta stese a terra, alla base dell’al-
bero. Si tratta di un metodo semplice, che però evidenzia

There are various methods for harvesting olives; allowing
them to fall spontaneously isundoubtedly theoldest andmost
economical, but in this case the oil obtained is of low quali-
ty, with somewhat poor organolepticandnutritional qualities,
and a high level of acidity. Combing involves the use of vi-
brating rakes, whichwhen passed between the branches of
the tree detach the olives so that they fall into the collection
nets laid on the ground at the foot of the tree itself.This is a
simplemethod, but the yield in terms of product harvested
per hour is somewhat poor. Beating consists in hitting the
branches with mechanically activated rakes, so that again
theolives fall into the collectionnets.This is themethodpre-
