carequelli sulleattività cheAEF – Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation – in-
tendepromuovere findallasuanascitanel2008.Èormaiundatodi fattoche inEu-
ropa e nel mondo si parla sempre di più di alta tecnologia in ambito agricolo; anche in aree
dove, tradizionalmente,si erapiù restii adassimilare l’ISOBUS, le tecnologieper l’agricoltura
di precisionee tuttoquanto vi ruotaattorno, ci si stamuovendoper recuperare velocemente
il terrenoperduto.
Nonèun casose inGiappone,Paese cheper necessitàe tipologiadimacchine– inpartico-
lare in termini di costi, dimensioni e specificità delle lavorazioni – è assimilabile all’Italia ed
agli altri paesi dell’areamediterranea, l’istitutonazionaleper la ricerca inambitoagricoloNA-
ROstiaspingendo tutti i costruttori nell’adozionedell’ISOBUS,pureseprocedendoper passi
misurati. E così ecco che alla recente AEF ISOBUS Plugfest europea, tenutasi quest’anno a
Senlis (Francia) dal 21 al 24 ottobre, si sono visti, tra gli altri, anche un paio di dispositivi di
costruttori giapponesi,semplicima funzionanti. L’AEF ISOBUSPlugfestè l’evento tecnico ISO-
BUS per eccellenza, quello in cui ogni costruttore che realizzi dispositivi emacchine basate
sullo standard ISO11783e sulle linee guida implementativeAEF possono connettere tradi
loro i vari dispositivi everificarne il corretto funzionamento.E l’Italia?Mai comequest’anno la
partecipazionedi aziende italianeèstatanumerosaeproduttiva, ivi inclusaquelladell’AEFTe-
st Instituteufficialeper l’ItaliaREI (ReggioEmilia Innovazione) alle riunioni tecnichedei grup-
pi di lavoro. Diversi sono i costruttori che stanno realizzandodispositivi emacchine ISOBUS
consuccesso, implementandodalle funzioni di baseaquelleper l’agricolturadi precisione.Si
sono visti quindi: UTServer (Universal Terminal Server –precedentemente conosciuto come

ovember 2014, time for EIMA International and time for balance sheets. And
among them thoseon theactivities ofAEF, theAgricultural Industry Electronics
Foundation, since its formation cannot bemissed. It is now a given that in Eu-
rope, and in theworld at large, that that talk is continuously increasing on high technolo-
gy in the setting of agriculture, even in traditional areaswhere there has been resistance
to takeingon ISOBUS, the technology for precision farmingandeverythingwith fourwheels
around now on themove for quickly recovering lost ground.
This is not the case for Japan, a country where the need for typical machines and espe-
ciallyas regardscosts, sizeandoperation specifications is similar to ItalyandotherMediter-
ranean countries, theNational Agriculture and FoodResearchOrganization is pushing all
manufacturers towards the adoption of ISOBUS though this process if moving in small
steps. The ISOBUS Plugfest technical event was par excellence in which every manufac-
turer building devises andmachines based on ISO standard11783 on the guidelines set
out by AEF could conntect their various devised to verify correction functioning. And in
Italy? Never before this year has there been the participation of such a large and pro-
ductive number of Italian companies, including the official ItalianAEF Test Institute, Reg-
gio Emilia Innovation REI in attendance at the technical meetings of the work groups. A
number ofmanufacturersarecreating ISOBUSmachinedeviceswith success implementing
the functionsbasic for precision farming.Theseon viewareUTServer (Universal Terminal
Server – previsiously known asVT); UT Client (Universal Terminal Client – CPU equipment
for UT services); TECU (Tractor Electronic Control Unit); AUX-N (Auxiliary Input New – aux-
iliary input devices); TC-Client (Task Controller Client – integral functioning with CPU con-
trolledequipment capableofmanaging variable rateoperations andautomatic closureof
base section inGPS locations).There is then the strong sensation that something ismov-
ing with force also among the FederUnacomamembers just as there is also the strong
sensation that the world is being increasingly invaded by ISOBUS, as testified to by the
new recordof participation in theevent.More than220people,40 test stationsandmore
than 80 CPUs set up for the test, impressive numbers.
But that is now all.AEF ISOBUS at the Plugfest was also an occasion, as stated above, to
add upwhast is happening inside the foundation inwhich FederUnacoma is beginning to
play an important technical role. Leaving out the already consolidated AEF work groups
active for anumber of,we feel pressed tomention thenewones, thosewhoare takingup
the technologies which will lead agricultural mechanication to new steps toward the fu-
ture.
