A
piece of equipment named Cup Key designed by Pol-
mac in Mirandola, near Modena, for installing and re-
moving nozzles on booms for spraying plant treatment
products was created thanks to the skills acquired by the
Emilia Romagna company in more than half -a-century of
work in crop protection.
Polmac has furthered its great specialization in the sector by
betting on the development of avant-garde components in-
cluding, to name a few, flow meters, couplings, displays, mix-
ers and control groups, designed and built for improving the
performance of sprayers as well as protecting the environ-
ment and ensuring maximum safety for workers. In connec-
tion with this manufacturing philosophy, the company devel-
oped the Cup Key.
A communiqué issued by the company, preparing to bring a
range of products to EIMA International, explained, “Today,
the installation and removal of nozzles is so difficult and dan-
gerous that the worker has to put on protective gloves if he
does not want to run the risk of lesions on his fingers or oth-
erwise coming into contact with harmful chemical products.”
Gloves, as it is, might well be cumbersome for carrying out
the operation in the right way because, other than making it
difficult to handle something as small as a nozzle, they limit
manipulation by hand in the tight spaces of the sprayer boom.
Polmac’s new device, on the other hand, facilitates and en-
tire procedure and makes it safer. For installation, the work-
er need only insert the bayonet nozzle into the key and they
rotate it 45° to lock it into the nozzle port. For removal, the
operation is simply performed in reverse and the worker has
only to remove the Cup Key and the device is ready for the
next operation.

l nuovo attrezzo denominato “Chiave a Tazza”, progettata dal-
la Polmac di Mirandola (Modena) per il montaggio e lo smon-
taggio dei getti irroranti sulle barre destinate ai trattamenti fi-
tosanitari, nasce dalla competenza che l’impresa emiliana ha
maturato in oltre di mezzo secolo di attività nel segmento della
protezione delle coltivazioni. Un settore nel quale la Polmac ha
acquisito un’alta specializzazione puntando sullo sviluppo di
componenti all’avanguardia – tra cui, per citarne alcuni: flussi-
metri, raccordi, display, mixer, gruppi di comando – pensati con
l’obiettivo, da un lato di migliorare le prestazioni delle applica-
zioni, dall’altro di proteggere l’ambiente e di assicurare la mas-
sima sicurezza possibile all’utilizzatore. Ed è proprio questa fi-
losofia produttiva che ha portato allo sviluppo della “Chiave a
Tazza”. «Oggi – spiega con una nota l’azienda modenese che
esporrà la propria gamma di prodotti alla rassegna di Eima In-
ternational – il montaggio e lo smontaggio dei getti è così diffi-
cile e pericoloso che l’operatore deve necessariamente indos-
sare dei guanti protettivi se non vuole correre il rischio di pro-
curarsi lesioni alle dita o entrare in contatto con sostanze chi-
miche nocive». I guanti, tuttavia, possono essere di impaccio al
corretto svolgimento della manovra poiché, oltre a rendere dif-
ficoltosa la manipolazione di un componente piccolo come il get-
to, limitano non poco le possibilità di movimento delle mani tra
gli spazi angusti della barra irrorante. Il nuovo dispositivo della
Polmac, invece, agevola e rende molto più sicura l’intera proce-
dura. Per il montaggio, infatti, è sufficiente inserire il getto con
attacco a baionetta all’interno della “chiave” e compiere movi-
mento circolare di 45° fino al bloccaggio dello stesso sul porta
getto (per lo smontaggio si procede con l’operazione inversa).
Dopo l’uso, l’utilizzatore deve soltanto rimuovere la “Chiave a
Tazza”: il dispositivo è già pronto per una nuova manovra.
