John Deere 1725NT seeder, under the banner of technology

Countdown to the debut on the Italian market for the John Deere 1725NT precision seeder. The manufacturer highlights the rich technological equipment of this machine, one of the top models of the John Deere range.

Awarded at Sima with the Gold Medal for Innovation and the Silver Medal at the TECHagro trade fair in Brno (Czech Republic), the John Deere seeder has a road transport width of only 3 metres with a height of 4 metres, provided by a folding frame that allows it to handle with great ease all those situations in which the manoeuvring capabilities are at a minimum (narrow roads and small surfaces). Agility, however, is not the only strength of the 1725NT. The John Deere seeder stands out for its particular operational flexibility, which allows it to work on soils with traditional or minimal preparation, but also on untreated soils. “The 1725NT model - the manufacturer explains with a technical note - is an electrically driven machine that can be powered by an external generator connected to the tractor’s PTO”. As regards the sowing elements, the operator can choose between the MaxEmerge 5e system and the ExactEmerge technology, both characterized by seeding precision (even with working speed up to 16 kilometres per hour) and by a spacing (constant with respect to the working speed) designed to minimize product losses.

The seeding elements are controlled by an electric motor managed - in turn - by a small controller. Compared to traditional mechanical transmissions, the solution devised by John Deere for sowing elements offers greater reliability and has no major requirements in terms of maintenance. “On the model equipped with ExactEmerge - the US team continues - we have replaced the down tube with a brush-belt. This way, the seeds are transferred from the dosing system to the belt and deposited in the furrow with controlled vertical speed and with an inverted trajectory, which adapts to the speed of movement of the seeder and to the selected seeding density”.

Even at a sustained speed, the seeds (of corn or soy) are positioned accurately in the furrow without bouncing or rolling. Obviously the 1725NT seeder is able to manage seeds of different shapes and sizes, guaranteeing - assures the American company - a correct singularization in 99% of cases. Moreover, thanks to the electric drive system, it is possible to stop the individual seeding elements in the presence of perimeter limits or protrusions.

However, the 1725NT seeder is also prized for its precision farming technologies, like the ability to change the density of the seeds (manually or automatically) based on the prescription maps.

And again on the subject of agriculture 4.0, it is worth mentioning the SeedStar 3 HP system, which can detect a range of operating parameters (such as, for example, the inter-row or sown surface distance) and to use them for a detailed mapping of the operation. SeedStar 3 HP is compatible - just to name a few - with the John Deere Section Control technology, with GreenStar displays, and with the AutoTrac assisted driving.
