XTill Vogelsang: technology in the field

by Fabrizio Sereni

The Vogelsang XTill is a precise and reliable strip tiller designed for an excellent preparation of soil for sowing row crops. The XTill Series is marketd in two versions, the B and S distinguished by parallelogram design details but with the same independent main components. Thanks to depth-guided units and hydraulically adjusted pressure both versions can ensure work at depth and adapt the tiller to differing terrain. In addition to these winning features, the XTills are capabile of removing and chopping vegetable residues which, if buried, could damage the nutritional content present in the soil. For this purpose, while a toothed coulter blade opens the surface, two notched disc blades remove plant debris from the surfaces of the rows. Weeding is done with a double-sided hammer/fertilizer blade working the soil to the desired depth and slurry is deposited by an injector at the root level. After fertilization, a pair of undulated discs form a furrow of finely crushed soil. On the issue of fertilization, the distributor of the precision DosiMat LVX supplies the device as standard equipment for the XTillS models. The DosiMat LVX, the manufacturer explained in a technical note, continuously and precisely distributes fertilizer in exit points thanks to a very low variation coefficient of less than 5% to ensure excellent uniformity in surface treatments.
