Anniversary CBM, fifty years of successes

An important goal for CBM, as a manufacturer in Modena specialized in agricultural machinery components since the 1960s, rising to success by extending ranges through partnerships and acquisitions to become a leader in the sector with a workforce of one thousand and annual turnover of more than € 150 million

The Italian economic miracle had just come through its most dynamic phase ahead more difficult times for the national economy with the arrival of the first petroleum crisis which, however, featured manufacturing closely associated with agriculture, a mechanics sector with prospects for development. In this period, CBM took its first steps in Modena specializing in the manufacture of three-point tractor hitches. Despite the general economic trend no longer favorable, the timing for CBM was strongly positive. The enterprise grew rapidly towards consolidating great development in the 1980s throughout the European OEM tractor components market then very active. This growth continued in the decade following with the arrival of new agricultural mechanics technologies which partially changed the manufacturing architecture of tractors. This turn led to research applied to the development of new components making giant steps and a time when the key issues were reliability, quality and performance. The strong expansion of CBM was boosted in the 1999s with the acquisition of Mita Oleodinamica SpA in Verona, specialized in hydraulic power lifts with position and draft control and hydraulic valves for Agricultural Tractors and then the acquisition of another company, SAT Srl, which was upgraded and modernized for the specific production of three point linkages for small and medium powered tractors. Then production of trailer hitch systems for tractors was started up in 1996 and a short time later came the formation of CBR, a company specialized in the production of balls, socket assemblies and tie rods, At the close of the millennium the Modena based enterprise took a new step by looking abroad and in 1999 created a joint-venture in India, Mita-Harig India, for the manufacture of hydraulic power lifts for the Indian Market and Far East, an enterprise CBM took over 100% in 2010. As early as 2000 CBM acquired the historic Swedish trademark Axla well known trademark for pick-up hitches. In the wake of further expansion in business and turnover which reached € 80 million came the 2007 acquisition of CBM Polska, an important manufacturing plant in the Same Deutz-Fahr Group situated near Lublin, inaugurated in 2000 and specialized in the production of components for Agricultural Tractors. In the meantime, CBM took over TE-TRA Acciai, an UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certified company specialized in the heat treatment of alloyed and special steels, and has pursued the group’s great success in Italy and abroad with the manufacture of components ranging from Axla pick-up hitches to control groups and electronic lifters. Over nearly fifty years since the founding of CBM SrL in 1967 the group’s entrepreneurial spirit has remained the same but now vaunts the strength of a workforce of one thousand and a turnover beyond € 150 million.
