John Deere expands its 8R and 8RX Series with three new high-performance tractors. Equipped with a 13.6-liter JD14 engine capable of delivering up to 634 Hp through the Peak Power Intelligent Power Management (PP IPM) system which provides an additional 40 Hp for the most demanding jobs, the new models are characterized by a nominal power of 440, 490 and 540 Hp, respectively.

The 8R version is offered with a single or dual wheel configuration (front dual of up to 710 mm) and – optionally – with the single-line John Deere Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS), which automatically regulates tire pressure (rear tires up to 230 cm, front tires up to 185 cm) at any speed and temperature. The 8RX on the other hand uses four tracks with redesigned structures and Soucy CustomFit P Series tracks. This solution – explains the manufacturer in a technical note – relieves stress on the tracks and prolongs their operating life. Depending on the configuration, the track can reach a contact area of up to 4.87 square meters with minimal ground pressure of 0.4 kg/cm², thus helping to reduce soil compaction. The new front axle Heavy-Duty Independent Link Suspension (HD ILS) makes headland turns easier with a turning radius of approximately 7 meters. The system can also be adjusted manually or automatically depending on the load.

The CommandView 4 cab features the CommandARM control console and the integrated Convenience Display, which can store seat settings and customize the cabin, controlling the radio, climate control or phone. The Command Armrest introduces two joystick options: the CommandX Plus for basic operation and the CommandX Pro for more advanced control. John Deere claims that the new cab available on 8RX models offers 15% more legroom and a panoramic field of vision, 20% greater than the standard version of the 8R Series. Both series are equipped with a StarFire 7500 receiver, G5Plus CommandCenter display and JDLink connectivity. Thanks to flexible licensing options, operators can access “supervised autonomy” functions which – the manufacturer always emphasizes – optimize work and minimize operational errors. High-tech solutions such as AutoPath Rows and Boundaries and AutoTrac reduce overlaps, driver errors and fuel consumption, improving operational efficiency.

The 8 range, which includes the 8R and 8RX series, offers the traction performance typical of articulated tractors combined with the versatility of a standard model, allowing rapid road transfers and optimal management of larger implements. The tow bar (category 5) is able to support particularly heavy loads while the rear lift is double acting with a capacity that can reach 10.8 t at 610 mm.; two new double-acting front linkage options offer capacities of up to 4.8 t at 610 mm. The rear PTO can achieve 548 Hp with ample power reserves for demanding jobs such as wood chipping or road milling. Additionally, the new vehicles can be supplied with Jake Brake engine brake, a system that intervenes automatically when the tractor speed exceeds the preset speed, acting to decelerate the vehicle gradually without engaging the main brakes.
