Precision and automation, the advantages of the Saphir XMR seed drill

Lemken is presenting its new Saphir XMR mechanical seed drill to the market. A progressive development from the proven Saphir 10, it retains the strengths of the previous model while introducing significant improvements in terms of precision, ease of use and productivity. The main new element of the Saphir XMR is its completely redesigned metering system. The system, in fact, has been equipped with wheels that can be individually replaced without the use of tools, to make switching between different types of seed even faster and simplify cleaning and maintenance operations. The metering unit is supplied as standard with a bilateral electronic drive device with section switch at half the working width, which excludes or activates individual seed sections or rows and limits overlaps during headland turns and on irregularly shaped terrain. The working depth is set via a centralized lever, while the pressure of the double-disc coulters with parallelogram suspension and pressure roller and the seed placement depth can be adjusted independently, adapting the machine to different soil conditions. The iQblue drill interface, based on the ISOBUS protocol, manages all the main functions of the equipment. Depending on the configuration, operations such as the calibration test and emptying of residual seed are controlled by digital systems that simplify the operator's work.

The new Saphir XMR seed drill offers greater operational autonomy, thanks to the 900, 1,200 and 1,500 liter hoppers which allow large surfaces to be covered, reducing the time dedicated to seed replenishment. The wide loading opening, protected by a sturdy waterproof cover, facilitates filling both with big bags and with a front loader. As an option, Lemken supplies the MultiHub, an additional 200-liter hopper intended for the distribution of micro-granules or seeds for cover crops and for herbaceous plants that are sown to protect and improve the soil during periods when it would otherwise remain fallow between one cash crop and the next. Lemken technicians have designed the Saphir XMR to be combined with the Zirkon EMR and Zirkon XMR power harrows, making for an extremely effective field combination. For this configuration, a 600 series roller is available – the manufacturer states – featuring optimal rolling resistance and greatly enhancing soil reconsolidation, especially on soft and easy-to-work soils. Finally, the semi-mounted version has a further strong point relating to the hydraulic cylinders which simultaneously move the seeder upwards and forwards during lifting. This swiveling movement reduces the load on the tractor's rear axle, improves the vehicle's weight distribution and increases stability during road transport.
