Savigliano: a new start with innovations and confirmations

Leonardo's Vitruvian man at the centre of a mechanical gear is the new symbol of the exhibition dedicated to agricultural mechanisation in Savigliano, underlining the role of human ingenuity in the creation of the machines and equipment that are the stars of the show, which was set up at the beginning of the 1980s and is a reference point for the sector in north-western Italy

From now on, the acronym Mag will identify the Savigliano Agricultural Mechanisation Fair, now in its 39th edition, held in the province of Cuneo from 17 to 20 March 2022.

Organised by the Fondazione Ente Manifestazioni di Savigliano and with the patronage of the Piedmont Region, the Province of Savigliano and the Chamber of Commerce of Cuneo, the event, which normally takes place annually, is back after being blocked in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid emergency.

260 exhibitors were present on an area of 49 thousand square metres, numbers in line with pre-pandemic figures. During the four days of the event, more than 59 thousand visitors were able to discover new products and top models from the various companies present, covering all types of vehicles for various agricultural crops and also for green maintenance.

Mag also included Ecotech, a pavilion reserved for renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, and Agrimedia, a space dedicated to all the conferences for discussions on the main topics of interest for the sector, organised in cooperation with Fondazione CRC and with the participation of Arproma, Coldiretti, Confagricoltura, Confartigianato, Consorzio Monviso Agroenergia and Associazione Trattori e Trattoristi. The latter in particular promoted a meeting, with the contribution of the ASI National Commission for Agricultural and Industrial Machinery, on the evolution and enhancement of historical tractors, with particular attention to the current regulations on the recognition of vintage agricultural machinery in Article 60 of the Highway Code. The association then created an area dedicated to vintage agricultural machinery with a static presentation of historical tractors under the Same and Lanz brands.

A week before the start of the festival, as per tradition, the awards of the Technical Innovations Contest 2022 were presented during an evening organised at the Milanollo Theatre in Savigliano. The awards included three innovations and four mentions. The innovations included Epa 2.O and Kit Easy Farm by Cima spa, a control device for pesticide applications with an interface that provides the user with all the information on the treatment in progress; the Drago Gold Sunflower Header by Olimac srl, which has a cutting height that allows the harvesting of sunflowers and hemp and is equipped with a hydraulic mower for the simultaneous cutting of the remaining production; Dna, Dynamic New Acknowledge by Wgreen Technology and Boffa Costruzioni Meccaniche sas, a device for inter-row weeding in vineyards that uses an auger with hydraulic lateral movement that can be operated in two directions of rotation, capable of eradicating weeds with reduced mechanical action on the ground. Technical mentions for the "Easylevel+" by Arvatec srl; the "Spartan 700: direct cut header" by Capello srl; the "Front implement holder frame for vineyards and orchards, Compas - Extreme 21" by Colombardo srl and the "Frandent Control System electronic kit" by Frandent Group srl.

FedeUnacoma took part in the event with its own information area regarding the Federation’s activities and the engineers of the technical service, Lorenzo Iuliano and Domenico Papaleo, took part in the conference organised by Arproma on "Mother Regulation: the regulatory developments" to illustrate to the professionals in attendance the updates on the rules governing the production and use of agricultural machinery.
