VisionFence, the intelligence of Navimow Segway mowers

Blue Bird Industries is the exclusive distributor for Italy of Segway Navimow robot lawnmowers. These are automated machines that use virtual boundaries, eliminating the need for complicated perimeter wires. Thanks to the Exact Fusion Locating System (EFLS) positioning module and Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) technology, Navimow is able to work with centimetric precision and accuracy through a systematic cutting pattern, which significantly improves cutting efficiency. The product also features the possibility of customising performance through simple and intuitive programming via an app. Another great strength of the Segway Navimow models is the VisionFence Sensor system, which enables the machine to detect different types of objects on the lawn and thus work even more efficiently and productively. The VisionFence technology, launched just this year, is based on an advanced visual recognition algorithm thanks to which the mower's sensor can detect and identify obstacles (they must be larger than 0.1 metres and have a maximum diameter of 1.5 metres) extremely quickly and accurately. This is therefore a particularly innovative solution that allows the machine to avoid areas of lawn with trees or flower pots, without them being considered as 'forbidden' areas and therefore not being worked on. Furthermore, should the connection to the satellite signal prove problematic (especially in areas with challenging layouts), the VisionFence sensor can identify the edge of the garden, allowing Navimow to continue mowing. Another great strength of this technology is the large detection range, which covers a maximum distance of 5 metres at an angle of 140°. Compatible with all Navimow H-series products, the VisionFence sensor can be installed quickly and easily, with software updates available via Wi-Fi.
