Pellizzi Prize for young researchers

The third edition of the Giuseppe Pellizzi Prizes is promoted  by the international Club of Bologna organization which deals with strategies for global agricultural mechanization. In collaboration with the Accademia dei Georgofili and FederUnacoma, the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation, the competition awards the prizes for the best doctoral theses written on a machine and agricultural mechanization. The Club of Bologna Management Committee which runs the Club selects the winner of the awards from the three most substantial works by the doctoral candidates during a special work session held at a Club meeting scheduled for next November 10 and 11 in the setting of EIMA International 2018 in Bologna. FederUnacoma monetary prizes of € 1,200, € 800 and € 500, 1st, 2nd e 3rd classifications, are presented to the three top candidates who are given the option of taking part in the annual meetings of the Club in the next five years. The awards in the two past editions were presented to six researchers in Estonia, Germany, India, Spain and the United States for dissertations on the automatic tracing of plant protection products, the systematic development and analyses on continuous variation transmissions with split internal power for mobile machines, modeling and interaction with the soil for development of PTO powered plow discs, an onboard system for evaluating yields and quality of grape pickers, identifying the Huanglongbing greening citrus disease using artificial vision and automatic cheering harvest. The biennial awards were created in 2012 in honor of the late Giuseppe Pellizzi, an agricultural engineering academic who established the Agrarian Engineering faculty at the University of Milan and promoted and was the president of the Club of Bologna for many years, until his death that year.  Applications for entering the competition can be presented until next June 30 by sending work to the Club’s secretary general via email to the address marco.fiala@unimi.it Detailed information and complete documentation is available on the website www.clubofbologna.it, Premio Pellizzi section.
