Athena cultivator for minimum tillage
The ATHENA combined cultivator, produced by ma/ag, makes its debut in Hanover. This piece of equipment designed for soil cultivation and seedbed preparation has been designed by technicians at the company located in Casalbuttano (Cremona) to operate using minimum tillage techniques. ATHENA can be towed or semi-mounted, and is composed of a single main frame with a single-beam structure, on which all the various elements are placed. The introduction of the frame with central wheels has succeeded in reducing the overall length of the unit, making it easier to use in the field and for road traffic. The equipment comes in a version with a 3-meter fixed frame or one with a hydraulically foldable one to 2.55 meters for road transport, while the widths vary from 4 to 6 meters and require coupling with tractors from 250 to 400 horsepower. The new cultivator was designed as a single work unit with three different, independently adjustable application areas. The independent disc group is made up of a double row of discs with a diameter of 510x6 mm mounted on a single bracket and is equipped with the “silent block” shock absorbing system with rubber buffers and “SKF Agri Hub” watertight support. The system is housed on a frame which, via a parallelogram device and hydraulic cylinders, regulates the height and “aggressiveness” of the operations. In the central grubbing unit, the rigid anchors, made of wear-resistant steel, are arranged in three rows and are equipped with a hydro-pneumatic safety system adjustable up to 700 kg load. The working depth can vary from 15 to 35 centimeters. The finishing unit, consisting of a spiked roller that attacks and reduces the clods brought up during previous operations, operates behind the anchors, evenly leveling the soil with a wide range of finishing rollers for final compaction. The equipment is supplied standard with a Compact Roll steel roller with a diameter of 600 mm.
Transport is possible thanks to a trolley equipped with large wheels, which have the dual function of moving the tool and supporting and limiting the overall working depth of the machine.
