Di Raimondo: stone collection made easy

Safety, reliability, low maintenance costs and low fuel consumption are among the strong points of the towed SP stone picker brought to Agritechnica 2013 by Sicily's Ragusa-based farm machine company, Di Raimondo.

The machine's dragging method is designed to optimise the removal of unwanted stones from any kind of terrain. It needs a 40-120 HP tractor and stands out for its chassis design, the weight arranged in such a way as to avoid the tractor sliding or getting stuck, while achieving maximum surface grip.

The design also reduces fuel consumption, while the use of high-quality material such as high-resistance steel prolongs the machine's life and reduces the need for maintenance.

At the same time, the decision to opt for a hydraulic management for the various components has made working with the machine much easier. The collection and unloading bin is tilted via a hydraulic system and, when the collection bin is full it is tilted into the unloading bin. The unloading bin is hydraulically emptied in the selected area when full.

Di Raimondo's Agritechnica stand also focusses on the Combi V, a vineyard cultivator for where the going is tough. It is fitted with folded front tines to cover the whole width of a row and a very compact frame so that the machine can get between the vine support posts and approach the lowest plants.

Combi V's tools are also mounted back to front compared to normal cultivators, to improve visibility and permit easier manoeuvres in restricted spaces.
