Four steering wheels, the news from Same

News from Same in the specialized tractors segment. The Treviglio company presented at EIMA 2018 the new Frutteto CVT ActiveSteer model, a specialized tractor equipped with an innovative technology that introduces four steering wheels also among vineyards and orchards. Thanks to the new rear axle, the wheels can now reach an inclination of +/- 20° and their position is controlled by an electronic control unit that allows the operator to select different operating modes. With the proportional mode, the movement of the rear wheels is correlated with that of the front wheels, allowing to drastically reduce the turning radius, without penalizing the machine’s stability. The “crab” mode, useful when working along the slope lines or with forklifts in confined spaces, allows the rear wheels to be oriented in the opposite direction to the front wheels. In “delayed” mode, the steering is proportional to that of the front wheels, but with a slight delay. This mode is very useful with towed trailers which, thanks to this functionality, stay closely connected with the tractor that precedes them, without over-tightening the turning radius. In addition to these three automated control modes, it is possible to manually manage the steering angle of the rear wheels, and lock them as desired to compensate for the sliding downhill of the inclined rear axle or lock them in a centered position for road transport. It should also be noted that at EIMA 2018, Same won the title of “Best of Specialized” in the Tractor of the Year 2019 competition for the Frutteto CVT 115 S tractor.
