New Holland is bringing for public viewing in Verona a new version of their T8 tractor series featuring the introduction of the Auto Command™ Continuously Variable Transmission (CTV) designed especially for the characteristics of this high range tractor.

The proportional force-based system deployed by this transmission operated by the ergonomic CommandGrip™ multifunction lever is strongly intuitive for the driver. The four modes for operations are Automatic, Cruise, PdF and Manual which ensure maximum flexibility for work performance and improved fuel consumption. All the functions of the transmission are grouped in the single lever to allow the operator to smoothly speed up or slow down at the precise rate wanted with just the press of the lever. The T8 Auto Command™ provides speeds most suitable for any type of operation, from preparing seed beds to transport. Thanks to the availability of the ECO 40 km/hr version top speed can be reached with the engine running at 1400 rpm, if the load allows, for work which involves considerable transport. For enhancing the stability of the tractor, all the T8 models have a wheelbase longer than those mounting the Ultra Command™. The 3550 mm wheelbase is the longest on the market for this category, 14% longer than their closest competitor's. A Holland technique note said that in spite of this the T8 series tractors maintain their exceptional turning radius. The new T8.420 is rated at a maximum of 419 HP with the Engine Power Management (EPM) system which continuously adjusts engine output to match working conditions making the tractor ideal for farming large crop areas involving demanding work, for meeting the needs of contractors for haymaking and forage harvesting or, for example, for livestock raisers with dairy production with sizable transport requirements. The five models in the T8 series mount the ECOBlue™ technology with SCR Cursor 9 engines that deliver increased horsepower while using less fuel and meeting stringent Tier IV emission standards, a power plant developed in collaboration with FPT, Fiat Powertrain Technologies.
