
Tandem dumper: technology and stability
The importance of landfilling wastewater is now well established: on the one hand, European and Italian regulations require it to reduce ammonia and nitrogen emissions, and on the other, farms benefit from it both economically and agronomically. It is precisely in this sector that Bonsegna, a Lecce-based company specializing in the production of slurry spreaders and agricultural trailers, offers its range of TANDEM two-axle slurry spreaders. The models offered by the Apulian company, with capacities ranging from 9,000 to 16,000 liters, are designed to meet the needs of both small and large farms. The more compact versions can be combined with tractors starting from 120 Hp, while the higher capacities start from 160 Hp. The tank is the beating heart of the dumper, and it is here that Bonsegna has concentrated some of its most effective solutions, starting with the tank, which can hold the most aggressive wastewater thanks to the hot-dip galvanization that covers the steel. A key element of the tank system is the flush rear hatch, which makes the internal surface smooth – with no steps – to prevent unwanted stagnation. Furthermore, the oblique design of the tank allows for quick and complete emptying, while during loading it improves the distribution of the liquid waste inside the trailer. If the tank ideally represents the heart of the machine, the frame constitutes its backbone, being designed to keep the center of gravity low and, consequently, to improve stability during wastewater loading and distribution operations, thus reducing overall mechanical stress. The chassis structure is equipped with parabolic suspension with 100 mm blades that reduce stress and the risk of lateral roll, with two axles made by ADR – rear steering – and a drawbar eye equipped with ball joint. The wide range of accessories available for this product line – says the Lecce-based manufacturer – allows the tanker to be transformed into an “advanced agricultural technological platform” with a radio-controlled loading arm, loading accelerator, interconnection and ISOBUS system.
