The "eco" snow groomers by Prinoth

Hydrogen propulsion could soon replace diesel power in the snow groomer sector. The standard bearer of this innovation is the LEITWOLF h2MOTION model, designed by the Alto Adige company Prinoth (based in Vipiteno, part of the HTI Group), which has just started operational tests on the slopes of the Dolomites. The Prinoth prototype is equipped with an “eco-friendly” 544 Hp engine, which combines a hydrogen cell and an electric motor, measuring up to the Diesel versions. With a maximum torque of 2300 Nm and a maximum running time of four hours - explains the South Tyrolean company - the hydrogen snow groomer's performance is even higher than the classic model's.

The end of the year brought another innovation from Prinoth; in addition to the aforementioned LEITWOLF h2MOTION, it presented an all-electric snow groomer, the HUSKY eMOTION. This machine produces a power of 270 Hp and a maximum torque of 1140 Nm, with running time of 3 hours. These respectable numbers demonstrate how alternative technologies lend themselves to even the most demanding applications, including difficult terrain. "Our company group goes from words to deeds when it comes to environmental protection: from the production of renewable energy to the construction and installation of wind farms, as well as the implementation, thanks to cableway technology, of innovative electric mobility in public transport systems, and now the introduction of CO2-neutral snow groomers. For us - commented Anton Seeber, chairman of the board of directors of HTI - sustainability is not a slogan, but a commitment".
