October 2015 | Back

A focus at the Agrilevante international exposition of agricultural machinery and equipment for Mediterranean farming will be turned on training with nineteen workshops offering free entry and two conferences sponsored by the periodical Vita in Campagna, Life in the Country and the weekly, L’Informatore Agrario, in collaboration with FederUnacoma, the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation, and the Fiera del Levante trade fair agency. An area of 300 m² has been allocated in the Vivere in Campagna Salon for holding free courses on the cultivation of family fruit and vegetable plots and olive groves. These courses in Bari will be conducted according to the same successful formula used at the Vita in Campagna fair last March in  Montichiari, near Brescia, and by the lecturers and experts who collaborate with the monthly Vita in Campagna magazine. The workshops will be staged in a genuine fruit orchard, a stand of real olive trees and vegetable garden for bringing together theoretical-technical issues and practical demonstrations. On the schedule are three sessions with Giovanni Rigo on fruit grafting, pruning, varieties and planting on October 15th and 16th with attention on medicinal and aromatic plants, the selection of varieties, fertilization and rotation. October 16th to the 18th Giorgio Pannelli will hold demonstrations of pruning with a focus on the management of olive trees and enhancing the value of olive oil. Two conferences at the professional level are set to deal with the issues, All the help with Rural Development Programs (RDPs) for Conservation Farming and Mechanization on October 16th and, Profitability in Cereal Cultivations in South Italy Between New RDPs and Sustainability on October 17th. Also planned are reports to be delivered by relateurs from leading Italian academic institutions for explaining innovations to benefit the environment and the saving of resources for those attending these sessions.
