AgriPlug is the name of a device for precision agriculture designed to optimise cultivation operations by remotely monitoring tillage and recording detailed data relating to the different types of work carried out in the field. This innovative technology is made by the young Perugia-based company Agricolus - the firm was founded in 2017 - specialising precisely in systems for agriculture 4.0. As the manufacturer explains in a note, the AgriPlug device is installed inside the machine and is then connected to the Agricolus platform that enables data exchange with the vehicle. With AgriPlug, we read in the note, it is possible to acquire a wide range of information, from the display of the route taken by the machine to its position in real time, from the recording of parameters referring to the operations carried out in the field (speed, working hours of the vehicle used, surface area worked), up to the control of the presence and hours worked by each individual operator recorded through a dedicated App. Moreover, thanks to the device made by the Umbrian company, the farmer can create prescription maps based on vegetation indices processed from Sentinel 2 images, improving fertiliser distribution and optimising product consumption. Another great plus of the AgriPlug system is its flexibility, as it can be used not only with the latest generation of machinery, those already set up for precision farming, but also with vehicles that have not yet been digitised. Compared to the latter, Agricolus technology offers the advantage of exploiting all the strengths of 4.0 with a minimal implementation of the machine, without disrupting its construction architecture and without forcing the user to change model.
