AvMap Srl, a company headquartered in Carrara (Tuscany), specializing in the development of GPS solutions for precision agriculture, has obtained the ISO/SAE 21434 - Cybersecurity for Road Vehicles standard from the DNV certification body, relating to cybersecurity in electronic systems of vehicles, including agricultural machinery. This important certification, which characterizes embedded electronic solutions developed by the Carrara-based company marks the achievement of an important goal for AvMap, as it attests to the high level of data protection and digital infrastructure used to connect tractors and farms. With the growing prevalence of precision farming practices, the interconnection of machinery, sensors, the cloud, and software exposes farms to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. Thus, AvMap explains in a statement, protecting digital systems means safeguarding operational availability, the confidentiality of agronomic data, and process security. The ISO/SAE 21434 standard defines rigorous requirements for managing cybersecurity risks throughout the life cycle of a vehicle's electronic system: from analysis and design, to production, maintenance, and decommissioning. The certification obtained by AvMap attests to the adoption of development and control processes capable of preventing unauthorized access, cyber attacks, and the compromise of critical functions. Technologies such as FARMNAVIGATOR 4G Agri SIM (a telematics hotspot for agricultural machinery), FARMNAVIGATOR Tracker Agri (a tracker for agricultural fleets), or the FARMNAVIGATOR All in One RTK connected antenna, and the MyFarmnavigator.com cloud for agricultural fleet management, have been developed following these requirements and best practices. “Cybersecurity is no longer an option, but an essential requirement to address the challenges of the digital transition in agriculture. This transition must be in compliance with European regulations which require, for example, the adoption of a digital notebook for recording  phytosanitary treatments,” commented Simone Lazzarini, CEO of AvMap.
