The 67th edition of the International Agriculture and Livestock Fair, which takes place from April 27 to May 1 in Foggia at the exhibition centre of the city in Puglia, is focused on agricultural mechanics. As part of an exhibition that has a long history and an important role in the development of the Puglia region’s primary economy, the topic of technological innovations for agricultural processing is developed thanks to the presence of major manufacturers and the collaboration between the trade fair organization and the FederUnacoma Italian federation of manufacturers of agricultural machinery. A conference entitled “Water for agriculture, a technological challenge”, specifically dedicated to the subject of supply and management of water for arable and vegetable crops of the Foggia province - promoted by the trade fair organization and FederUnacoma, with the collaboration of the Capitana reclamation consortium, the University of Foggia, and the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari - takes place during the event on the afternoon of Friday, April 29. The meeting is preparatory to the launch of an “Exhibition on water for agriculture”, which should take shape already from the next edition of April 2016. The optimization of water resources is one of the key issues for the development of the Apulia Region and the entire South, and involves the management bodies of the reservoirs and the distribution network, the research world, the training world, and the sector industry. For its part, the industry sector is now able to offer advanced systems for the irrigation of field crops, as well as irrigation systems for fruit and vegetable crops, pumping devices, control and management electronic systems, and any other type of specific equipment. In the context of an exhibition that offers all types of products and services for agriculture and livestock, the issues related to agricultural mechanics are also manned thanks to the presence of the Unacma association of machines dealers and the Imamoter Institute for agricultural and earth moving machines of the CNR. In particular, Unacma organizes workshops for guidance to professions linked to the world of agricultural mechanization (held in the conference room within the institutional stand, in the days of Wednesday 27, Thursday 28 and Friday 29, mainly aimed at students in the last years of Technical institutes within the project Mech@griJobs), and promotes, in collaboration with Confai and Unima, talk shows and conferences on topics related to the distribution system, revision, and subcontracting. As for the CNR-Imamoter programme, there will be workshops on the correct use of farm machinery, organized in the form of brief guidance meetings (held in the conference room within the institutional stand) and live demonstrations, using a path specially built inside the exhibition centre.
