Leader PF, Faresin's fully electric mixer wagon
The Leader PF Full Electric 2.24 with rotary tiller, a 24 cubic meter self-propelled mixer wagon from Faresin, made its debut at Agritechnica. The model inherits the architecture of the 2.20 in terms of robustness, mixing capacity and agility but with a larger capacity tank to catch the eye of large livestock farms looking for low environmental impact solutions. The Leader PF 2.24 FE is powered by four independent electric motors dedicated to the main functions: a first 52 kW for traction that offers speeds of up to 20 km/h, a second 52 kW for mixing, a third 34 kW for the cutter and finally a fourth 23 kW for hydraulic features. Energy is provided by 91.3 to 137 kWh rechageable lithium-ion batteries (LFP), designed for intensive use. Autonomy, depending on the battery pack, is possible for more than four and up to seven mixing cycles per charge, equivalent to a full day's work. The advanced system adopted by the Veneto-based manufacturer also includes energy recovery during braking and deceleration phases. Faresin points out how eliminating the diesel engine eliminates diesel consumption and direct emissions, generating operational savings quantifiable in tens of thousands of euros per year. If powered by self-produced energy from photovoltaic, wind or biogas systems, the economic savings are even more significant: up to 90 tons of CO₂ per year compared to an equivalent endothermic model. Added to this is the reduction in noise pollution, which significantly improves animal welfare and the quality of the working environment in the stables.
The Leader PF Full Electric 2.24 retains the four-wheel drive and steering system, with three steering modes (front, concentric and crab) and a turning circle of just 6.1 meters.
The twin-auger mixing tank is made of S355 steel, with various AISI 304 stainless steel cladding options, while the PF cabin integrates an electro-proportional joystick, a 10” display, and electronic weighing and control systems connected to the software offered by the Breganze (Vicenza) company for smart livestock feeding management. The new Leader PF Full Electric is part of the range of integrated Smart Feed Technology solutions with which the Vicenza-based company transforms the mixer wagon – internal combustion or electric – into the nerve center of modern livestock farming.
Smart Feed Tech currently brings together two groups of solutions: technologies that make it possible to verify the quantity and quality of the nutritional content of the mix (TMR) and applications that collect and process big data to support the farmer in advanced herd management for Precision Feeding and income maximization.
Since 2017, Faresin has integrated a Polispec NIR spectroscopic analysis system into the mixer wagon to directly verify the nutritional content of the mix (proteins, fats, starches, fibre and moisture). With Polispec NIR, trailed or self-propelled mixer wagons can now prepare the mix respecting not only the weight of each individual ingredient, but also the exact content of nutritional components. In the top-of-the-range Faresin Leader mixer wagons, mixing can be automatically controlled by the Ecotronic system, which detects the state of the mix in real time and alerts the operator to unload when optimum uniformity has been achieved.
Automation eliminates variability caused by human error, reducing time and energy consumption. The upper level is represented by AI Feeding, a solution based on artificial intelligence and deep learning that integrates data from IoT sensors on the farm, milking robots, and pedometers, which are automatically acquired and combined with external information.
These algorithms update the information arriving at the individual item level in real time, providing KPIs (performance indicators) that are updated in real time.
