McCormick X7 SWB in the sign of innovation

One of McCormick's main novelties for Eima International concerns the X7 range in the new Short Wheelbase (SWB) versions, which will be presented in Bologna with the new Stage V engines with HI-eSCR2 (DOC+SCRoF) exhaust gas treatment. The most innovative feature of the new engines - a 4.5-litre, 4-cylinder, 16-valve FTP NEF 45 and a 6.7-litre, 6-cylinder, 24-valve FTP NEF 67 with turbo intercooler and Common Rail electronic injection - is the fuel injection technology, which increases responsiveness while ensuring lower fuel consumption and improved emissions.

The installation of the engines is designed to have a wheelbase of 2,651 mm for the 4-cylinder, offering greater stability during field and front loader operations, while maintaining manoeuvrability and versatility. The 6-cylinder tractor has a wheelbase of 2,760 mm. Common to both models is a maximum permissible weight of 11,500 kg and a 710/60R38 maximum rear wheel that offers greater stability and comfort during transport, less soil compaction in field operations and better traction and performance in ploughing out of the furrow. In terms of design, the manufacturer has modified the 3,500 kg front linkage, which now offers the operator an even wider view of the working area. Also at the front of the tractor is the new one-piece bonnet, which opens at an angle of 90° and provides easier access to the engine compartment for maintenance work. Another important maintenance feature is the Cooling Matrix system, which simplifies radiator cleaning operations.

The cab, derived from the top range, features a roof with 12 LED lights that offer a 360° view, even at night. Two transmissions are available: VT-Drive (for the higher powers) and P6-Drive (for all four powers in the range). The continuously variable, 4-stage VT-Drive, with 4 sets of planetary gears and oil-bath clutches, guarantees outstanding responsiveness. With speeds ranging from a minimum of 0.04 km/h to a maximum of 50 km/h, it promotes productivity in every working environment. The transmission is controlled by the VT-EasyPilot joystick on the multifunctional armrest. The P6-Drive transmission, on the other hand, features 6 Powershift gears under load, 5 robotised ranges and electro-hydraulic reverse shuttle on the steering wheel.

There are a total of 30 forward + 15 reverse gears, which become 54 forward + 27 reverse gears with the Super Reducer. The transmission is controlled via the simple and ergonomic EasyPilot joystick. The Stop & Action system integrates the De-Clutch into the brake pedal, allowing the tractor to be stopped without pressing the clutch, for easier driving on the road. The simultaneous use of Stop & Action and APS (Auto Powershift) allows the P6-Drive transmission to drive in a similar way to VT-Drive. The hydraulic system is closed-centre with a 123 l/min pump (an optional 160 l/min booster pump is available) and can handle up to eight spool valves. The electronic rear linkage provides a maximum lift capacity of 9,300 kg.

The range includes the X7.4 P6-Drive (available in the X7.417 165 Hp version and the X7.418 up to 175 Hp), the X7.6 P6-Drive (available in the X7.617 165 Hp version and the X7.618 175 Hp 6-cylinder version), the X7 VT-Drive with 4 or 6 cylinders, which has two configurations - X7.418 and X7.618 - both capable of delivering up to 175 Hp thanks to the Power Plus system.
