Berti: state-of-the-art mulching solutions
The company from Caldiero (province of Verona) presented several innovative mulching technologies at Agritechnica. Here are the main innovations from Berti Macchine Agricole.
KX. It is a hydraulic forestry mulcher equipped with a SMOOTH CUT rotor with a cutting diameter of 360 mm. The rotor has an arrangement designed to keep the balancing weights as low as possible, thanks to which it is possible not only to reduce the balancing time of the rotor, but also to increase the life of the balancing itself. In addition, the Berti SMOOTH CUT rotor is equipped with additional protection for the fixed tine. This is a particularly effective solution for mulching brushwood, branches and logs with a diameter of up to 12-15 cm, as the protection prevents plant residues from 'flooding' the tine, which is therefore able to work optimally. Tough (it has a double HARDOX frame) and 'light' compared to other forestry models, the KX mulcher has a power requirement of between 60 and 110 hp, and is offered with three different working widths: 150, 170 and 190 cm.
TA/MF. Following the presentation of the first prototype last year at EIMA International, the TA/MF mulcher makes its official debut in Hanover. The TA/MF is a professional model, suitable for both roadside grass mowing (in combination with a rear side cutter or brush cutter arm) and more general green maintenance. The basic version provides a front coupling to the tractor; however, a three-point double coupling is also available on request, allowing the mulcher to be used in rear coupling as well. TA/MF can be used on standard tractors with front or rear lift and power between 90 and 180 Hp (operating mass is between 4 and 6 tonnes). The standard equipment includes a gearbox with double freewheel (for PTO at 1000 rpm), a flail head with STRENX special steel box frame and self-cleaning d.139 support roller. The rotor can be equipped with P-type hammers or YP knives and can cut up to 4-5 cm in diameter on grass, prunings, branches. Four working widths are available: 160-180-200-220 cm. TA/MF will be marketed from next March.
PICKER/FR. It is a mulcher intended for mulching woody residues. Unlike the PICKER/F model, it can be attached to the front or rear of the tractor, is more compact and has a hydraulically operated top pick-up for both opening and speed adjustment. PICKER/ FR can be equipped with three different types of rotors: with A-hammers, with retractable hammers, with fixed tines (can rotate anti-clockwise). PICKER/ FR is offered in sizes 150, 180 and 200 cm.
LAND/P BioG. Berti's new stalk chopper, suitable for mulching and recovery of agricultural by-products, enables mulching and windrowing of plant residues to be carried out in a single operation. The recovery of the agricultural by-product, besides being used for energy purposes, can also ensure a number of positive effects on crops and the soil. In particular, with LAND/P BioG it is possible to reduce pests, reduce mould pollution for subsequent crops, and improve nutrient management.
