The MechFiber 345 SP self-propelled diet feeder based on the self-propelled Pointer and Terrier cutter-mixer wagons by the Italian manufacturer Storti and Kennan made its debut at the Sima Show in Paris. The new self-propelled machine is equipped with a Storti cutter arm featuring in turn the FPS (Fiber Pickup System) which allows the cutter to load in both directions. With this construction solution the loading belt for hay or bales works at high speed and optimizes the loading phase. These operations are facilitated because the product is lifted and not driven down, whereas for silage operations, the special placement of the blades and configuration of the loading channel ensure that the organoleptic properties are maintained intact. The Keenan MechFiber feeder is equipped with a variable cylinder pump providing much more torque and a latest generation cab featuring new and improved ergonomics inside along with soundproof isolation and climate control to optimize comfort for the operator. An ample windshield and the installation of a guide column designed to free vision from the lower part of the cab ensures full control over the work area. Further comfort for the operator is provided by independent hydro-pneumatic suspension which absorbs the cutting arm stress borne directly by the frame and driver’s seat. In keeping with the Storti tradition, the auger transmission is mechanical with a new dry clutch. This solution maximizes the power of the diesel engine is conveyed directly to the mixer via a cascade of specially designed gears to avoid any loss of power. The MechFiber 345 SP mechanical transmission reduces fuel consumption by 9.5 to 10.5 liters/h for a16 m³, according to the manufacturer, and hydraulic oil intervals at the rate of 2000 hours per change. In summary, the benefits of the MechFiber 345 SP extend not only to quality of work but also to operation costs which are decisively limited to shorten the time for a return on investment. The Italian manufacturer said the self-propelled machine built through Keenan and Storti collaboration will be available initially in the 16 m³ output version with speed of up to 25 km/h but later the range will be expanded to bring in diet feeders with larger outputs and greater speed.
