The new Ricosma MIG 24 ZP atomizer was presented at the latest edition of Fieragricola. An evolution of the MIG 24, the MIG 24 ZP two-row straddling atomizer has working widths from 120 cm to 270 cm with a 2,000l tank. It was developed by the company from Lonigo (VI) to meet the needs of farmers who have to work in confined spaces and need a machine that is agile in the manoeuvres at the end of the field and is able to follow the curves of the tractor without cutting into the rows. The solution proposed by the Vicenza company regards the steering system, characterized by a double-jointed articulation connected to the 3rd point hitch arms of the tractor.

This mechanism, in addition to providing high stability of the machine even on rough terrain, enhanced by the tandem axle, allows a very tight turning radius, so that the atomizer can follow the trajectory of the curve drawn by the tractor in the field-end manoeuvres.

The arm closing system makes the machine extremely compact as well as very manoeuvrable off the field, facilitating road transfers.  An electric control operates 5 hydraulic movements for opening the arms, adjusting the height, and adapting the width to that of the rows, offering great versatility to the atomizer, which is thus able to handle accurately every planting.

The machine is equipped with a maximum-discharge polyethylene tank with 2,000 litres of capacity, surfaces inclined at 15-20°, a pump with a membrane in aluminium or brass from 100 to 16° l/min, and a hot-painted high-performance centrifugal conveyor of 560 mm in diametre equipped with a single-speed multiplier and neutral.

The designers at Ricosma gave their maximum attention to the aspect of distribution, configured in such a way as to allow the use of the machine at low and medium volumes. This is characterized by three air diffusers per face which, by using a smaller volume of air, allow a targeted treatment, which significantly reduces the drift effect.

Among the most interesting innovations of the MIG 24 ZP we find the ability to install the electrostatic system, which increase the cohesion of the treatment with the leaves, even in the back, resulting in a better and more widespread leaf coverage and, thanks to the consequent reduced fall of drops to the ground, a reduction of pollution of the leaves and plants.
